THE CLINIC STORY

Caring for movement .
since 1980.

From a small local physiotherapy practice to today’s multidisciplinary clinic, Amesbury Physiotherapy has grown across generations without losing the personal, practical style of care it was built on.

WHERE IT BEGAN
TODAY

Physio, rehab, Pilates, osteopathy and more — under one roof.

THE BEGINNING

A clinic created for its community.

Amesbury Physiotherapy began in 1980, founded by Nicci Caswell’s mother as a local physiotherapy practice serving the Amesbury community.

Over the decades, the clinic has changed with the profession. New services, new clinical expertise and new rehabilitation approaches have been added — but the philosophy has remained recognisable: take time to understand the person, treat thoughtfully and help them return to the things that matter in everyday life.

OUR TIMELINE

How the clinic evolved.

BROADER MOVEMENT CARE

Pilates becomes part of the clinic’s approach.

Nicci’s Pilates teaching adds another route into movement, exercise and long-term rehabilitation alongside hands-on physiotherapy.

Today
A MULTIDISCIPLINARY CLINIC

A bigger team, the same personal approach.

Today, Amesbury Physiotherapy brings together physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation, osteopathy, Pilates, acupuncture and runner-focused services for people with a wide range of goals.

CONTINUITY
Family roots.
Modern practice.
ACROSS GENERATIONS

Passing on a practice. Moving the profession forward.

“The clinic’s strength is not that it stayed the same. It is that its core values survived while the clinical team, services and rehabilitation methods continued to evolve.”

Nicci’s background in major NHS hospitals, orthopaedic environments and musculoskeletal rehabilitation helped shape the next phase of the clinic. Over time, new clinicians and disciplines expanded what the practice could offer while maintaining the personal character of a locally rooted clinic.

THEN & NOW

What changed — and what didn’t.

WHAT EVOLVED
1

A larger clinical team

More clinicians mean a broader range of expertise and treatment approaches.
2

More disciplines

Sports rehab, osteopathy, Pilates, acupuncture and specialist runner support now complement physiotherapy.
3

Modern rehabilitation

Exercise, loading, movement analysis and self-management now play an increasingly visible role.
WHAT STAYED
1

Personal attention

Treatment starts with understanding the person, not just naming the problem.

2

Practical goals

The focus remains on helping people return to everyday life, work, activity and sport.
3

Local connection

Amesbury remains at the heart of the practice’s identity and community.
